NIJC requests law student support for a Pro Se Asylum Clinic.  Due to a significant increase in the number of asylum seekers in Immigration Court without legal counsel, NIJC’s Immigration Court Helpdesk team is seeking assistance from Chicago’s law school clinics.

The clinic will be at NIJC’s office: 224 S. Michigan Ave. Ste. 600, Chicago on April 24, 2020 from 11 am – 5:00 pm,

Volunteers must speak Spanish and be willing to work with individuals who have suffered traumatic events.

We provide orientation and training for students on how to complete a skeletal pro se I-589, initial screening of clients to determine a potentially viable asylum claim, computers with pre-loaded I-589 forms and technical supervision at the workshop.

Registration is required. Please have students RSVP here by April 10.
